Rotary Centennial Skate Park

Hurt & Proffitt provided civil engineering, surveying, geotechnical and environmental services to the Rotary Centennial Riverfront Skatepark, located in Historic Downtown Lynchburg. We worked as a part of the team with Coleman Adams Construction Company and Craddock Cunningham Architectural Partners to design and construct a 14,000 SF hybrid design complex with a skater capacity of 100. The complex includes a Street Course consisting of a 9,000 SF pad with multiple flat bars, a bench, a pyramid with Hubba, two quarter pipes, loading dock with a kicker ramp, and two and four set stairs. The concrete Bowl features a shallow 5′ section, 2 hips, and a deep 8′ section.

Hurt & Proffitt’s responsibly included consultation with Amazement Square on concrete specifications, addressing the City of Lynchburg comments pertaining to drainage and erosion control, subsurface geotechnical investigations, and survey stake-out services. A Virginia Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and permit were also part of the services provided for the project.
