Hurt & Proffitt has teamed with Land Planning and Design Associates Inc. to develop a Streetscape Improvement project for the Town of Gordonsville Virginia. The project is funded with enhancement grant money and is being closely coordinated with Town administrative and public works staff. The intent of the project is to improve the streetscape in ways that enhance the overall visibility, accessibility, functionality and economic vitality of the downtown historic district, while preserving the unique character of the Town. The project will include crosswalk safety and aesthetic improvements, installation of pedestrian scaled street lighting and trees, drainage enhancement, development of a corridor directional signage plan, and aesthetic improvements to an existing railway overpass and retaining walls. Hurt & Proffitt is an integral part of the team and is providing surveying and engineering services for the project. The survey and engineering services are critically important to insure that existing topography, drainage; roadway and utility features are mapped accurately and considered carefully in the design process. Survey work began in December with final plans will be developed over the next few months. The project will be designed per VDOT standards with the input from the Town of Gordonsville staff and members of the Streetscape advisory committee.
