Fort Eustis Battalion Headquarters Building

Hurt & Proffitt is part of design-build team led by general contractor Homeland Contracting Corporation that also includes lead design firm AECOM Design (f/k/a HSMM/AECOM). The design-build team was awarded a design-build project to construct a two-story 14,000 SF Battalion Headquarters Building at Fort Eustis, Virginia. The project award was the first under the multi-million dollar Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) for 8a general contractors in the Norfolk District.

Hurt & Proffitt’s project responsibility consists of re-grading a mild hillside adjacent to an existing wetland to provide a flat building pad, removal of existing parking to meet Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) standoff distance requirements, and connection of utilities to the existing infrastructure system. Site work includes selective clearing of existing trees to make room for the new building and sidewalks to connect to the existing parking lots and the base sidewalk system. The building and site are designed to meet a LEED Silver certification.
