Geo-technical Engineer – Blacksburg, VA

We have an exciting full-time opportunity for an Geo-technical Engineer in our Blacksburg office.

The opportunity:

An integral part of our Geo-technical and Materials Testing division, this full-time position will execute on the following critical aspects of our business:

  • Evaluate geologic conditions and geo-technical characteristics for assessment and design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures and earth structures.
  • Conduct foundation investigations for commercial, industrial, and high rise developments.
  • Analyze field data and prepare detailed engineering reports and recommendations.
  • Analyze slope stability and settlement.
  • Coordinate and schedule geo-technical subsurface evaluations, boring mark-out for utility clearance.
  • Analyze and classify soils and borings, test pits, etc.
  • Conduct pavement evaluations and complete designs.
  • Prepare proposals and budgets.
  • Schedule and monitor the work of technical field staff.

The candidate:

The idea candidate for this position must have or be the following:

  • A self-starter with at least 5 years’ of project management experience
  • Have the ability to manage and lead a team
  • Have experience developing business with new and existing clients
  • Have a valid Virginia PE License.
  • Have the ability to interact with all levels of an organization’s employee population.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ professional experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and a commitment to workplace safety.

This position reports directly to the Director of our Geo-technical and Materials Testing Division.
