Fort Lee Child Development Center (Design-Build)

Hurt & Proffitt is working with AECOM Design and Homeland Contracting Corporation on their second construction contract under an Army MATOC contract. This project is for a medium-size Child Development Center and Youth Services Building design-build construction project at Fort Lee, Virginia.

Hurt & Proffitt is providing civil engineering site design from the Norfolk office and geotechnical engineering services from the Lynchburg office. The lead design firm is AECOM Design, Virginia Beach. The center will provide child care and space for the Youth Services office. The building will be approximately 20,000 SF on a site of about two acres between the existing Child Development Center and the base chapel.  The US Army Corps of Engineers coordinated this project to provide care for 125 children, which includes infants, pre-toddler, and pre-school age children. The center will also include a full service kitchen, separate adult and children’s bathrooms, staff lounge, and a waiting area.  The construction contract is valued at $5.0 M.
